Across the Tramuntana mountains to the sea
Starting near Pollensa, we walk across Mallorca’s surprisingly wild and dramatic Tramuntana mountains, passing the monastery of Lluc, the hilltop castle of Alaro and the pilgrims' path of Biniaraix, to reach the sea at Soller. From here trails lead along the coast, past the artists’ haunt of Deia, home to the poet Robert Graves who lived and died here, to the Carthusian monastery of Valldemossa, where Chopin and George Sand took refuge from the world.
Simple monastery rooms and 3-5 star hotels, some with pool, including converted olive mill and 18-19C houses
