The concept

We acknowledge that of course tourists create impacts wherever they go. However the challenge is to turn tourism into a positive force to protect the natural and cultural heritage – the reasons why people want to visit an area, in the first place. All too often, the tourism profits leak out of the country via consumer chains and all-inclusive holiday packages. We want to invest in the businesses, which contribute to the unique qualities of a place.  This guide seeks to support local businesses, run by local people and selling quality local products.

At ATG, we feel that we have a unique resource base of knowledge, through our experience of over 25 years of working abroad and the expertise of our tour consultants. This knowledge has formed the basis of our guide, to bring benefits to local communities and enhance the experience of travelling with ATG. We have done our best to provide comprehensive, accurate information. However, we are sure there are many excellent enterprises that we do not know about, which would make worthy entries to this guide. Furthermore, businesses change ownership and we cannot guarantee that all the places recommended in this guide, have maintained the high standards, which impressed us during our research.
